OASUS Peer Educator Application

This exciting leadership opportunity will allow you to gain valuable professional skills, develop new relationships with faculty, staff, and peers, deepen your understanding of the material, and play a vital role in academic support at Rice. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills through our Lead Peer Educator and voluntary committee programs.
In this role you will be expected to:
- Attend 8 hours of paid orientation training during the first half of the Fall semester
- Work ~6 hours/week, including two 2-hour drop-in tutoring shifts per week, regular meetings with faculty and preparation of course content, and professional development meetings with staff
- Apply equity-minded practices in all interactions with peers
- Reflect and act on feedback provided by faculty and staff
- Meet with the lead faculty to discuss course content and best tutoring practices
- Participate in ongoing professional development meetings and workshops with staff
- Proactively communicate with faculty and staff
- Create a positive, welcoming culture in the Drop-in space
- Market Drop-in tutoring resources to peers
- Provide feedback to shape the future development and expansion of peer support resources at Rice
New Peer Educators will be compensated $15/hour.
Eligibility for employment as an OASUS Peer Educator:
- Currently enrolled Rice undergraduate in Fall 2025
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Minimum grade of A- in the course you want to tutor and prior enrollment in the course; some courses have alternative GPA minimums or additional requirements indicated on the application form.
- Availability to work ~6 hours/week
- A strong commitment to helping peers learn
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, time management, and attention to detail
- Prior experience as a tutor, Academic Fellow/Mentor, or course TA is a plus, but not required

Students must present to payroll staff original, unexpired document(s) at this time. Payroll staff will be available during office hours, Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Direct Deposit Authorization and W-4 form may be completed at the same time with payroll.

OASUS Drop-in Study Manager Application

OASUS Drop-in Study Managers support the center by setting up the space, monitoring student check-in, managing the calendar and email, and assisting with marketing communications . You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills through our Lead Drop-in Manager and voluntary committee programs.
In this role you will be expected to:
- Attend a mandatory one-hour training prior to the start of work, participate in one peer educator Lunch & Learn, and attend regular staff meetings throughout the semester.
- Work two 2.5 hour shifts per week.
- Welcome students into Drop-in and ensure that they check in.
- Remain up-to-date about scheduling, events and reviews
- Create a welcoming, inclusive environment
- Be responsible for setting up the space and breaking down after drop-in hours, where applicable.
New Drop-in Study Managers will be compensated $13/hour.
Eligibility for Drop-in Study Managers:
- Currently enrolled Rice undergraduate in Fall 2025
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Availability to work ~5 hours/week

Testing-Center Check-in Coordinator Application
The newly established OASUS Testing Center is hiring friendly, responsible students to greet test-takers and assist with the check-in process. The Check-in Coordinator will welcome students, provide an orientation to the center, and ensure a smooth check-in experience. This role does not involve proctoring exams or handling exam materials.
Requirements:
- Greet students warmly and answer questions about the process.
- Confirm student identity and assist them in checking in to our scheduling program.
- Manage the storage lockers where students will secure their belongings.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in the testing center space and beyond.
- Handles other job duties as assigned.
- Strong candidates will demonstrate maturity, professionalism and a welcoming disposition.
Pay: $13/hour
Hours: Traditional Testing Center operating hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm, with occasional periods of expanded hours. Check-in Coordinators should expect to work approximately 40-50 hours in a given semester.

Testing Center Proctor Application
The Office of Academic Support for Undergraduate Students(OASUS) is seeking reliable, detail-oriented, and empathetic graduate students to serve as Testing Center Proctors. This position plays a vital role in supporting an accessible equitable testing environment, maintaining the academic integrity of the testing experience, and contributing to our broader mission of cultivating an inclusive, equitable educational experience for students at Rice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the integrity and security of assessment in the Testing Center at all times
- Manage and respond to student questions according to Testing Center protocols and guidelines
- Oversee the time-notification process during exams to ensure students are aware of remaining exam time
- Manage distribution and security of testing materials with accuracy and confidentiality
- Accurately confirm student identity and update the exam scheduling program
- Handle sensitive and confidential information in compliance with FERPA and university policies
- Support OASUS’s commitment to accessibility and equity by working closely with students and staff to meet individual testing needs
- Demonstrate empathy and professionalism in all student and faculty interactions
- Assist with additional administrative duties as assigned by OASUS staff
Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled Rice graduate student in Fall 2025
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with student records or other confidential information
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks with accuracy

Position Overview
OASUS is seeking a Marketing Coordinator for the 2025–2026 academic year. This part-time, paid position supports our efforts to expand campus awareness of OASUS programming and build community around our values. The Marketing Coordinator will play an important role in shaping a sustainable student-facing marketing strategy for the office, working closely with professional staff to advance the mission of equitable academic experience across the Rice undergraduate community.Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with OASUS staff to develop and implement a student-facing marketing and outreach plan for the academic year.
- Manage and serve as the primary content creator for student-facing social media (Instagram, GroupMe). This may include attending some outreach events for photos, video, etc.
- Coordinate communication with the OASUS residential college liaison program
- In collaboration with OASUS staff, track engagement with social media and other outreach efforts.
- Act as an ambassador for OASUS values and programs in the Rice community
Time Commitment
- The time commitment of this position comprises 30-40 hours per semester, with a workload that varies according to OASUS programming.
- While the marketing coordinator is expected to meet periodically with OASUS staff and meet agreed-upon deadlines, most work hours are flexible.
- This position is active when classes are in session, with the potential for summer extension.
Qualifications
- Must be a currently-enrolled Rice University undergraduate student
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Proficiency with major social media platforms, especially Instagram
- Basic photography, video, and graphic design skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Creative, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- A proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward supporting inclusive student learning and success
