Just-in-time group tutoring on evenings and weekends, provided by peer educators who are trained in effective, inclusive tutoring practices, and work closely with faculty to align their guidance with course learning outcomes. Read more (Opens in a new window)
Students enrolled in historically-challenging courses meet weekly in small groups to engage in collaborative learning activities facilitated by a peer educator. OASUS invites your course TAs to participate in our professional development programming for student educators by registering for our 8-hour Foundational Peer Educator Training Program. This workshop series empowers peer educators to cultivate inclusive learning communities, meaningful learning experiences, and metacognitive awareness. Please note that this is a paid training program, and we ask that non-OASUS participants be compensated by their employing program/department at their regular rate of pay. In collaboration with faculty, OASUS staff are available to develop embedded workshops and online learning modules targeting threshold concepts or discipline-specific skills that are important to student success in a given course. Designed for students with significant and persistent learning challenges, Individual Learning Consultations connect course content and skills to larger themes in STEM as students learn to identify areas of growth, develop STEM-specific learning strategies, and set individual goals. The OASUS Testing Center offers an equitable testing environment for students with alternative testing needs. Faculty may request to partner with our Testing Center, allowing enrolled students with alternative testing needs to schedule their exams with us. Please note that approval to test in the Center is determined exclusively by the Student Disability Resource Center staff (for academic accommodations) or by course faculty (for alternative accessibility needs).
